NSB cops looking for three men who beat and robbed a city man last month

If you recognize the men in each of these surveillance photos, then you are asked to please call the New Smyrna Beach police at 424-2248. They are wanted by police in the Aug. 3 beating and robbery of a city man.

NEW SMYRNA BEACH -- A 41-year-old city man was beaten and robbed early last month resulting in treatment at Bert Fish Medical Center for head injuries and police are asking the public's help in capturing his three attackers whose images were captured on surveillance video from a local business.

Gerald Heath was beaten after three men demanded a ride from him and his wallet taken.

Here is a synopsis of what happened as described by police Sgt. Eugene Griffith in the 12:52 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 3 incident:

"The victim was robbed and beaten about the head at the intersection of E. 8th Avenue and Hill Street in New Smyrna Beach. The victim was asked by the three (3) suspects for a ride from a local bar to the Sea Vista Motel. Once they were near the motel, the suspects beat the victim about the head causing him to lose consciousness and robbed him of his wallet. The victim sustained injuries to his face and head. He was taken to Bert Fish Medical Center for medical attention."

Here is a description of the three men, who were photographed in still photos taken from a surveillance video that night: from a local business after the attack:

  • Suspect 1 -- White male, 25-30 years of age, 5”06”-05-08”’ 140-150 lbs; brown hair with sunglasses on top of his head / LSW: dark t-shirt with white stripe; light colored swim trunks
  • Suspect 2 -- White male 25-30 years of age, 510-511; 140-155; scruffy goatee, short brown hair;/ LSW: Dark colored T-shirt, dark sneakers, denim shorts
  • Suspect 3 -- Black male, 25-35 years of age, 5’09”-6’00; 180-200, short brown hair, scruffy beard/ LSW: black T-shirt; denim shorts, brown sneakers
