No. 3: Occupy Wall Street demonstrations take hold

The latest political demonstration fad was born Sept. 17 in Zuccotti Park near New York City's Wall Street and became known as "Occupy Wall Street," a leaderless mass targeting the wealthist 1% of Americans. Some of the demonstrations involved protestors clashing with police.

The protests spanned more than 10 weeks throughout the U.S. and across the globe. In Florida, demonstrations were held in 15 cities: Daytona Beach, Orlando, St. Augustine, Gainesville, Jacksonville, Melbourne, Lakeland, Pensacola, Sarasota, St. Petersburg, Ft. Myers, Tallahassee, Miami, West Palm Beach and Vero Beach.
