Ormond Beach cops: 12-year-old boy struck and killed by own sister picking him up from school

ORMOND BEACH -- A 12-year-old boy was killed this afternoon after he was struck by a pick-up truck driven by his own sister who had gone to pick him up from school.

Cameron Brenneman was pronounced dead on arrival at Halifax Medical Center in Daytona Beach.

Here is a synopsis of what happened in the 2:49 p.m. Wednesday fatality at 864 E. Lindenwood Circle as described by Ormond Beach police Lt. Kenny Hayes: "Preliminary investigation has determined that 18-year-old Mckensie Malecki of Ormond Beach had driven a 99 Chevrolet P/U truck to the area of Lindenwood Cir. to pick up her brother, 12-year-old Cameron Brenneman, from Ormond Beach Middle School."

Hayes continued: "Investigators are still trying to determine exactly how the crash occurred but the truck hit another vehicle on Lindenwood Circle before crashing into a concrete utility pole. Brenneman was struck by the truck and severely injured. He was transported to Halifax Hospital under a trauma alert where he was pronounced dead."
