Love Tebowmania NY Jets debate between Stephen A. Smith and Skip Bayless

I love watching "First Take" on ESPN2 with Stephen A. Smith and Skip Bayless who debate the big sports topics of the day. And never have they been on top of their game as their exchanges over the validity of Tim Tebow's trade to the New York Jets.

Smith, the fire-breathing talking head, thinks Tebowmania is a joke, especially in Gotham City as he describes his beloved New York City. Bayless, the smug talking head, makes no apologies for Tim Tebow's presence and believes he'll be starting by mid-season despite the $40 million contract the Jets gave starting QB Mark Sanchez after Peyton Manning told them thanks, but no thanks.

As you may recall, unless you know absolutely nothing about sports, Manning was the top free agent on the market after the Indianapolis Colts opted not to resign him because they are cheap (he was due a $28 million signing bonus), they didn't want to take a chance on him being injured again after four neck surgeries and because they are planning to draft Stanford QB Andrew Luck with the first overall pick in the upcoming NFL draft.

So who is right? Smith or Bayless?

How about this? They're both right. Tebowmania is a publicity stunt for the Jets who have not been able to deal with playing second fiddle to the Super Bowl champion New York Giants led by Peyton's little brother, Eli.

Tebow may not be the gifted pocket passer of a Peyton or Eli Manning or Tom Brady, Drew Brees or Aaron Rodgers, but he is a great football player. Tebow knows how to win as he demonstrated in leading the Broncos to a playoff win over the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Here's my scenario for Stephen A. and Skip to chew on: The Jets get a wildcard and face Peyton Manning and the Broncos in the AFC championship game. Tebow comes in for a wildcat play and the Jets win. Then they go to the Super Bowl and beat Eli Manning and the Giants.

Hey, it could happen. Tebow is a ray of hope for this long suffering New York Jets fan.
