Headline Surfer the Internet newspaper

The graphic shows how many people were online at HeadlineSurfer.com at 4:41 p.m. Wednesday. The "38" represents the visitors and the "1" is the editor's sign on with his name next to it.

NEW SMYRNA BEACH -- News travels fast in the 21st century and we are excited to be a part of the Internet age. Headline Surfer is a small media outlet, but we are an alternative medium for a news-hungry public tired of the liberal print newspapers.More and more of you are finding us online as one of the few Internet newspapers in the country. We were first in Florida with our April 7, 2008, launch from here in New Smyrna Beach, first as NSBNews.net and now under our umbrella trademarked name, Headline Surfer, Florida's 24/7 Internet Newspaper, accessed through HeadlineSurfer.com.

Of course, you can still access us through NSBNews.net and VolusiaNews.net, though our main URL now is HeadlineSurfer.com. We started with a few hundred unique visitors daily. These days we can draw anywhere from several thousand in a 24-hour cycle to as many as 12,000 unique visitors, according to our Google Analytics. We also have the largest social media network in Volusia County with more than 10,300 contacts.

We're among the few 24/7 Internet newspapers whose stories, blogs and images (photos, videos, graphics) are picked up by Google News Directories around the clock. Because of our strong following, many of our stories go right to the top of the search engines. And we carry video content showcasing news from around the world.

As you can see from our political ads that those seeking election or re-election know this is the place to be seen, heard and read, and we have a lot more coming on board. We are conservative in our editorial stances, but more important, we are real about our approach to breaking news, investigative reporting and news of record. By real, we mean there's no sugar coating the news or issues at hand.

We will be heard in this election year, with our own candidate debates that you'll be able to watch online and we'll be endorsing candidates heading into the Aug. 14 primaries and prior to the November elections. This Sunday, we'll premiere our new online news and public affairs show, "The Roundtable," and we'll be covering the national conventions: The Republican convention the week of Aug. 27 in Tampa and the Democratic convention the week of Sept. 3 in Charlotte.

We are thankful for the opportunity to bring you news every single day -- day and night. We enjoy a great following throughout Central Florida, in particular, New Smyrna Beach, Orlando, Daytona Beach, Port Orange, Edgewater, Oak Hill, Ormond Beach, DeLand, Deltona, Sanford, Lake Mary, Windemere, Palm Coast, Titusville and many other communities. And yes, we have followers in all 50 states, led, of course, by the Sunshine State.

Here is a Florida map that shows the locations throughout the Sunshine State in a snapshot graphic from our Google Analytics last month. The largest circle shows the New Smyrna Beach-Daytona Beach-Deltona areas and the second large circle shows the Orlando market.
