Breaking News: I teen dead; 2 others critical in Oak Hill crash

Fatal crash locator Oak Hull, FL / Headline SurferOAK HILL -- One teenager was killed and two others critically injured Wednesday night at the intersection of Maytown and Beacon light roads just outside the Oak Hill city limits, a Volusia County dispatcher confirmed just before 4 this morning.

There are few details on the 8:57 p.m. accident, but one thing is certain: One life was lost and the lives of two other young people hang in the balance.

"Oh my God, I know where this is at," Oak Hill Mayor Douglas Gibson told Headline Surfer after being awakened in a 4 a.m. call by the 24/7 internet newspaper and told of the location and limited details. "Our hearts go out to the families. These kids are dying way too young."

The Sheriff's dispatcher said one person was pronounced dead at the scene and two others critically injured were transported to Halifax Health Medical Center in Daytona Beach -- one of them airlifted and the other by EVAC ambulance.

There were multiple reports on Facebook of the fatal accident along with private messages sent to Headline Surfer's fan pages by those who knew the young man who lost his life and that a young woman may have suffered a broken neck. Headline Surfer knows who the fatality victim is, but is not publishing his name until it is released by the authorities.

One woman (name omitted by Headline Surfer) wrote her Facebook page: RIP (Headline Surfer excluding name). You are an angel now.

The poster added on her Facebook page: Okay I got an update on the teens in edgewater. My friends sister in law who is at the hospital says that (name omitted by Headline Surfer) is the one that passed away. (Female's name excluded by Headline Surfer) is in surgery and (male's name omitted by Headline Surfer) is in ICU. They think (male's name omitted by Headline Surfer) is going to pull through. So lets use the power of prayer to help these families find peace. Hug your children a little tighter.
