BOC rocks Destination Daytona for Biketoberfest 2011

ORMOND BEACH -- Blue Oyster Cult closed out Biketoberfest 2011 at Destination Daytona with a concert for the ages and NSBNews.net was right on stage with the band to capture the magic on video with 6,500 bikers cheering on. ORMOND BEACH -- The police department made 19 arrests and issued 113 citations during the week ending Oct. 14.
In all, police handled 1,437 calls for service during the week, including 159 traffic stops and 117 reports being written.

The Ormond Beach Fire Department dealt with 124 incidents during the week. Here is that agency's breakdown: 54 EMS calls, four motor vehicle accidents, 10 fire alarms, 31 public assists and 16 hazardous.

New Smyrna Beach -- Mayor Adam Barringer put on the charm before a partisan crowd Thursday at the Southeast Volusia Republican Club luncheon on what he described as his achievements over the last two years.

At Tuesday night’s meeting, the New Smyrna Beach City Commission handled a number of issues that will hopefully protect our city’s quality of life. With a flurry of locals announcing their campaign intentions, this seems like as a good a time as any for the first-term mayor to announce what he'll do in the big 20012 election campaign. Maybe he will, and then again, maybe he won't.
