Edgewater Fire Services to administer flu shots beginning Monday

EDGEWATER -- Beginning Monday, Edgewater Fire-Rescue will be offering flu shots at both fire stations (Station 55 – 1605 South Ridgewood Ave. and Station 57 – 2628 Hibiscus Drive).

Department paramedics will be administering the shots 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. Monday through Friday from Department personnel will remain subject to emergency calls during these times so there may a delay when there is not a paramedic available to administer the flu shots.

John Moranto, 68, head coach of the Mainland High School football team and a city resident, was charged with solicitation to commit prostitution, during a Labor Day weekend crackdown on prostitution by Daytona Beach police.

DAYTONA BEACH -- Four people have been arrested this Labor-Day weekend on prostitution-related charges in response to complaints by merchants and residents alike of the illicit activity in various parts of the city, a police spokesman said. Among the four was 68-year-old John Moranto, head coach of the Mainland High School football team and a city resident, who was charged with solicitation to commit prostitution.

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- It’s been 10 years since the County Council created the Voles County Department of Economic Development because the private sector-driven Volusia County Business Development Corporation wasn’t working. The County Council made a wise decision a decade ago; I see no justification to change course.
