CRA Director Kevin Fall doesn't address the Nov. 14, 2009, motor vehicle stop in his resignation for which he was issued tickets charging him with driving with an open container of alcohol, speeding and driving without insurance, but he refers instead to not being allowed to perform his intended duties over the past four months -- an indirect reference to what he believed was micro-managing by the interim city manager.

NEW SMYRNA BEACH, Fla. -- Then-Interim City Manager Pamela Brangaccio had her first scandal to deal with as 2009 was winding down: Then-CRA Director Kevin Fall quit after an embarrassing traffic stop made headlines rather than enter a counseling program. He even blamed her for his troubles.

The costume was a big hit since New Smyrna Beach is known as the Shark Bite Capital of the World. The young family left the parade with a trophy almost as big as the little shark boy.

"This is a great event for families," said Nicole Kirkland, who made the costume from $20 worth of materials she purchased at Target.

NEW SMYRNA BEACH -- The first to be gone was New Smyrna Beach Police Chief Ronald Pagano. He retired only after his contract was re-worked, giving him an extra $60,000-plus he otherwise wouldn't have been entitled to, after city officials learned of 940 items missing or stolen from the NSBPD under his watch. Next to be shown the door was Lt. Michael Brouillette, the acting chief, who "retired" April 30 of this year after signing a document that prevents him and the city from suing one another. Police Chief George Markert "resigned" earlier this month after a little more than a year on the job, at least that's what was stated in a press release, though Headline Surfer® was told otherwise. And finally there's Markert's successor, whose 30-year secret will be unveiled in the award-winning internet newspaper's upcoming investigative reports: "Show Me the Money New Smyrna Beach: Top Cops.
