Robert Edward Yunker

Memorial service for Robert Edward Yunker, age 85, of New Smyrna Beach, who died at his home Monday, June 14, 2010, will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 18 at Settle-Wilder's New Smyrna Beach Chapel, with The Reverend Luke McKinney, First Baptist Church of New Smyrna Beach, officiating.

Born in Batavia, New York, Mr. Yunker, a former maintenance supervisor for the housing authority, moved to this area 65 years ago. He served 2 ½ years in the U.S. Navy during WWII, was a member of New Smyrna Beach Elks Lodge 1557, and having worked for the Florida East Coast Railway, was a member of the Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen Union. A member of the Catholic faith, he loved woodworking, and built his own home.

Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Bonnie, 2 sons, Robert Thomas Yunker of New Smyrna Beach and Richard Michael Yunker of Port Orange; 1 granddaughter, Tara Jean Yunker; 1 sister, Joan Schrauth of Hamburg, New York; and 3 brothers, John, Richard, and Donald, all of Oakfield, New York. He was preceded in death by a son, Randall Stephen Yunker.
