Jean Zdunowski

Mass of Christian burial for Jean Zdunowski, age 89, of New Smyrna Beach, who died Thursday, August 12, 2010 at his home, will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 17 at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church, New Smyrna Beach, with The Reverend John S. Murray, officiating.

Burial will follow at Edgewater-New Smyrna Cemetery, Edgewater. Calling hours will be 5:00-8:00 p.m. Monday, August 16 at Settle-Wilder's New Smyrna Beach chapel.

Born in Wioska, Poland, Mr. Zdunowski had four nationalities: Polish, French, Canadian, and American. His family moved to France when he was a child, and during WWII he was a member of the French Resistance. After marrying Genevieve Kozminski, they moved to Canada where he owned and operated several bakeries in Montreal, and was a member of the Association of Bakers. Mr. Zdunowski belonged to the Hunting Club in Montreal and especially enjoyed skeet shooting. In 1974 he moved his family to this area and became the original owner of Mon Delice Bakery in New Smyrna Beach. After retirement, he enjoyed the beach and leisure activities.

Survivors include his wife of 70 years, Genevieve; 3 children, Jacqueline L. Mamele and her husband Chuck, of New Smyrna Beach, George Zdunowski and his wife Diane, of Montreal, and Marie-France Devlin and her husband Tom, of McLean, Virginia; and 3 grandchildren, Chaz Mamele, Camie and Gabby Devlin.
