Kosmas' not pleased with announcement of no COLA Increase for Social Security benefits

Orlando -- Today, following the announcement that there will be no cost of living adjustment for Social Security benefits next year, Congresswoman Suzanne Kosmas, D-New Smyrna Beach (FL-24), released the following statement:

"I am deeply disappointed in the announcement that there will be no cost of living increase this year for Social Security recipients. Social Security benefits provide a vital safety net for Central Florida's seniors, many of whom are still struggling as our economy continues to recover.

"I urge my colleagues to quickly pass the Seniors Protection Act, legislation I co-sponsored that will provide a $250 payment to Social Security beneficiaries who will receive no inflation adjustment this year.

"This important legislation will provide critical assistance to these members of our community and I encourage swift action when Congress returns to session."
