NEW SMYRNA BEACH -- City Commissioners voted unanimously tonight to approve a three-year labor agreement with the International Association of Fire Fighters, Local No. 2271, through Sept. 30, 2013, and retroactive to Oct. 1 of this year.
Mayor Adam Barringer and Commissioners Judy Reiker, Jim Hathaway and Jack Grasty voted for the three-year pact. Commissioner and Vice Mayor Lynne Plaskett was absent due to illness.
The contract calls for $85,116.40 in give backs or cuts from the union in the first year, including:
- Longevity, $31,322.80;
- Personal leave, $29,350;
- Pension contribution, $19,802.15;
- FICA tax: $4,641.47.
