Small mindedness of the power elite in Washington typified by California congressman

In his treatise, "The Heart of Man: His Capacity for Good and Evil," early 20th-century German philosopher and social psychologist Erich  Fromm noted: "The chief danger for mankind is not the fiend or the sadist. It’s the little man with too much power. In a business deal he could destroy an opponent; in a political position he could destroy the world. "

Darrell Issa, multi-millionaire Republican from California and threat for the chairmanship of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, is such a little man.

According to an article in The New Yorker, Issa, the ranking member of the committee, is hell-bent on condemning climate scientists to that same oblivion where his intelligence resides.

Based on God’s promise of everlasting-to-everlasting in Genesis 8:22, Issa The Arrogant assures us of his superior perception over all the greatest minds the world has produced since Christ walked the earth.

Mr. Issa, himself, has managed to remain ignorant of any scientific advances made in the past 2,000-plus years and is determined to spread his Republican rape of reason.

He may have heard of Einstein, Darwin, Edison and company, but obviously they must all have been ignorant Democrats, who, along with 95% of scientists of today, have no idea of reality.

Poo-pooing Al Gore and others who have made a life-study of the greenhouse-gas effect on our survival, Issa would stubbornly argue the “comical fiction” that carbon dioxide warms the atmosphere and is responsible for a notable and obvious increase in the world’s temperature.

Had he cherry-picked Genesis a bit further, Issa might have come upon the antithesis of that “never ceasing endurance” of earth, or at least mankind’s stewardship of it.

Like every living creature outside Noah’s ark, this arrogant would-be overseer of today’s environment chooses to sneer at any possibility of flood waters enveloping islands, continents, the seaboard states of America and all dry land threatened by melting glaciers.

Furthermore, he isn’t about to allow his eyes to see or his ears to hear of anything he doesn’t want to understand.

I would modestly propose that if God’s purpose were to wash away the sin of arrogant stupidity, Darrell Issa, Ohio's John Boehner and the American Congress would be obvious places to begin. That the Genesis flood story is pre-dated by centuries, from Babylonian to Egyptian hieroglyphics might also suggest a recurrence of such disaster from time to time, but why bother with history when we can consult the bible verse of our choice for our answers?

And why bother with something so painful as honest, intelligent research?

Such climactic cycles may very well have destroyed civilizations before any of which recorded history is aware. But for the occasional recurrence of some racial memory, we have no evidence for their being anything but myth.

The difference today is the intelligent people who study the catastrophic possibilities and could do something about them, but for the simple-minded jackasses who buy their way into power and are bent on using it for destruction.

A further research into the bible would alert our billionaire boobs in Washington that a rich man has the same chance at heaven as a camel going through the eye of a needle.

And because of these short-sighted, under-educated money changers and their unlimited power to destroy, humanity has about the same chance of survival.
