Stetson University School of Music announces February 2011 concerts

DELAND. - The Stetson University School of Music will present concerts, recitals and opera theater in February, and the public is invited to attend. The schedule is as follows:

* Friday, Feb. 4: Faculty recital "Sounds New" featuring Stetson professors Manuel de Murga, Nathan Wolek and Sydney Hodkinson, 7:30 p.m. Lee Chapel inside Elizabeth Hall, 421 N. Woodland Blvd., DeLand. Admission: $8 general public; $5 senior citizens and area students; free with Stetson I.D. and Friends of Music.

* Saturday, Feb. 5: Faculty recital featuring Routa Kroumouvitch-Gomez on violin and Michael Rickman on piano, 7:30 p.m. Lee Chapel inside Elizabeth Hall, 421 N. Woodland Blvd., DeLand. Admission: $8 general public; $5 senior citizens and area students.

* Tuesday, Feb. 8: Music by Black Composers concert, 7:30 p.m. Athens Theatre in downtown DeLand, 124 N. Florida Ave. Admission: $8 general public; $5 senior citizens and area students.

* Friday, Feb. 11: University Symphonic Band concert featuring Bobby Adams, conductor, 7:30 p.m. Lee Chapel inside Elizabeth Hall, 421 N. Woodland Blvd., DeLand. Admission: $8 general public; $5 senior citizens and area students.

* Tuesday, Feb. 15: Faculty recital featuring Boyd Jones on organ, 7:30 p.m. Lee Chapel inside Elizabeth Hall, 421 N. Woodland Blvd., DeLand. Admission: $8 general public; $5 senior citizens and area students.

* Friday, Feb. 18: Guest recital featuring the Tantalus Guitar Quartet, part of Stetson's Artist & Lecturer Series, 7:30 p.m. Lee Chapel inside Elizabeth Hall, 421 N. Woodland Blvd., DeLand. Admission: $8 general public; $5 senior citizens and area students.

* Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Feb. 25, 26, 27: Stetson University Opera Theater and Orchestra, "Marriage of Figaro" with Russell Franks, director, and Anthony Hose, conductor, 7:30 p.m. on both Friday, Feb. 25, and Saturday, Feb. 26; and 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 27. DeLand High School Auditorium, 800 N. Hill Ave. Admission: $10 for the general public, $8 for senior citizens, $5 for area students and free for Stetson students and employees (with ID) and Stetson Friends of Music.
