Two teens killed in SUV that rolled over and burst into flames in DeBary identified after autopsies

DEBARY -- Two young men killed when an SUV driven by a third teen rolled over and burst into flames on a dirt road two days ago were identified after an autopsy as 18-year-old Carlos Velazco of DeBary and Hunter Perez of Orange City.

Autopsies on both of the victims of Tuesday's traffic fatality were conducted by the Volusia County Medical Examiner's Office. One of the teens was pronounced dead inside the vehicle. The second was airlifted to Halifax Medical Center in Daytona Beach where he died. Three other teens, including the driver, 18-year-old Joshua Ritter,.were injured. Ritter was in serious, but stable condition at Halifax.

Ryan Jenkins, 17, of DeBary, was treated and later released from from Florida Hospital Fish Memorial in Orange City. Kenyanna Hawkins, 18, also of DeBary, was being treated at Central Florida Regional Hospital in Sanford. No other information was released on Hawkins.

The Sheriff's Office is investigating the cause of the 10:55 a.m. accident in the 700 block of Fort Florida Road, an aparent hangout for teens to joyride.

The Orlando Sentinel reported on its website that at least one of the teens killed may have been "car surfing" on the SUV's running boards and the other may have been doing the same thing before climbing back inside the vehicle.
