Daytona Beach cops: One person killed, two other pedestrians injured by hit-and-run motorist

DAYTONA BEACH -- Police are on the look-out for a white four-door vehicle in a that struck three pedestrians -- killing one of them -- while they were standing in the median in the 900 block of Ridgewood Avenue this afternoon.

The deadly hit-and-run occurred at 4:49 p.m. The vehicle was described as possibly a Buick or Nissan and should have a broken window as a result of striking the person killed.

Here is a synopsis of what happened as reported by Daytona Beach police spokesman Investigator Jimmy Flynt: Three pedestrians were standing in the medium attempting to cross from east to west in the 900 block of Ridgewood, when they were hit by a black motorist heading north who didn't stop and was last seen heading east on Fremont. One of the pedestrians died en route to Halifax Medical Center. The other two pedestrians received injuries not considered life threatening. No names or ages were immediately available of the victims.
