President Obama's bumbling foreign policy in Middle East will lead to more unrest

In just a few sentences, and apparently without congressional input, President Obama betrayed the only democracy in the Middle East: Israel. Obama’s bumbling foreign policy in the Middle East will cause great unrest and the possibility of renewed fighting is very real as Muslim nations see America’s weakness.

In previous attempts to pacify the Palestinians, Israel has withdrawn from Lebanon and Gaza and has been rewarded with constant barrages from who else? The Palestinians.

Obama has clearly abandoned the promises of support made to Israel during his campaign and delineates give-backs no rational person would request. When he was running for president, Obama said, “Jerusalem will remain the capital of Israel, and it must remain undivided.” “

United Nations Resolution 242 acknowledged that such lines (1967) were indefensible. A border defined by the 1967 lines would return the strategically important Golan Heights to Syria and make Israeli towns once again easy targets for the Syrian state-sponsor of terrorism,” states Peggy Shapiro, writing for AmericanThinker.com.

Obama stated: “For decades, the conflict between Israelis and Arabs has cast a shadow over the region. For Israelis, it has meant living with the fear that their children could get blown up on a bus or by rockets fired at their homes, as well as the pain of knowing that other children in the region are taught to hate them. For Palestinians, it has meant suffering the humiliation of occupation, and never living in a nation of their own.”

It had always been a wonder to me why the “Arab world” does not carve out some land for their fellow Muslims, among the the Palestinians, so they can have a legitimate nation of their own. Negotiation is certainly not Obama’s strong suit.

He prefers the dictator model wherein he alone pontificates and the world listens. And what does he demand from the Palestinians? Nothing.

This leaves the Palestinians and their brother terrorists, Hamas and the Muslim Brotherhood, with the understanding that just ramping up the attacks and agitating the situation will solve their real goal: the total destruction of Israel.

Needless to say, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu repudiated Obama’s position. Netanyahu will appear before Congress to outline his own position.

Is the world to step back and watch this happen? I stand with Israel and demand that Congress take all available action to protect and defend our staunchest ally in the Middle East.
