NEW SMYRNA BEACH -- Tia Winn-McDonald is trying to raise money to pay for her travel expenses in Las Vegas for the Miss Teen United States pageant representing the Sunshine State.

You can help by purchasing a $25 ticket for an all-you-can-eat dinner and cruise on Friday aboard the Past Time Princess at Dolphin View Restaurant on Riverside Drive. Five dollars from each ticket sold will be donated for Tia's trip.

The Edgewater teen and 2011 New Smyrna Beach High School honors graduate has raised more than $68,000 for people with special needs in the last half decade. She started "Our Shining Stars" pageant, which is a free pageant for children and adults who are mentally or physically challenged where everyone wins a crown and bag of gifts, along with many other programs.

She has volunteered more than 2,500 hours winning her The Presidents Bronze, Silver, and Gold Award, The Governors Point of Light Honor and a Proclamation from the Mayor.

Tia is a former community blogger for NSBNews.net and has been involved in numerous community charities, including the Police Athletic League of New Smyrna Beach and helping raise money for a special-needs van for an Edgewater girl critically injured while riding a scooter.
