New home page with stronger focus on breaking and investigative news

Welcome to the upgraded home page for NSBNews.net, also known as VolusiaNews.net, the 24/7 Internet-only newspaper in New Smyrna Beach that covers news in a multi-media format for a 21st-century world.

We are considered "new media," as we and others like us continue to evolve. As technology changes, so do we, now in our fourth upgrade since our April 7, 2008, launch as Florida's first fully online newspaper.

The new format is divided into three sections: Major breaking news at the top, with inside pages highlighted in the middle and interactive features in the third tier.

The first section is devoted to local and wire video at the top, along with columns from the publishers -- myself and Peter Mallory. We are stacked to the left, with local breaking news in the middle of the top section and wire videos for what's happening nationwide and across the globe through videos from the Associated Press and The New York Post (the AP with a liberal bent, and the Post conservative).

Below these are our local video features. The top blue box is for major breaking news and news on the homefront in New Smyrna Beach. Other top news stories in New Smyrna Beach and among the other 15 cities in Volusia County go into the slot just below.

The second blue box in the middle is for shorter stories that stand out. This smaller blue box and the one to its right can also be used for promotions and advertisements.
