The 10-foot-long mammal is a Risso's dolphin, part of the whale family, which feeds on squid.
Beachgoers carried him several feet onto the sand and immediately started pouring buckets of water on him to help keep him hydrated.
Seaworld officials transported the adult male adult male just before 4:30 p.m. from the shoreline near the Third Avenue beach ramp approach to their marine facility in Orlando.
