Greater New Smyrna Beach included in new redistricting plan
NEW SYRNA BEACH -- Following the introduction of a compromise redistricting plan scheduled for final passage in the Florida House and Senate this week, Representative Sandy Adams announced she will declare her candidacy for the new District 7, based in Seminole County and including parts of Orange and Volusia counties.
“I strongly believe in public service and working to make our nation’s economy stronger and more secure," Adams said Monday.
"Having represented much of the new District 7 in the Florida House and now in Congress, I know that it takes a strong fiscal conservative to bring about the change needed to shrink the size of government, empower families and small businesses, and support measures to help the private sector create new jobs and grow the economy."
Adams continued, "Central Florida voters have asked me to continue to fight on their behalf and I intend to do so. For the last 10 years I have been a strong advocate for the region as a no nonsense leader and a conservative voice for the district. This has prepared me to continue to represent the people and take their message to Washington, D.C.”
Adams has been elected to represent Seminole County voters five times – four in the Florida House and to Congress in 2010, overwhelmingly over incumbent Democrat Suzanne Kosmas of New Smyrna Beach, with 60 percent of the vote. Adams currently represents parts of Seminole, Orange, Brevard, and Volusia counties in the U.S. House of Representatives.
