NEW SMYRNA BEACH, Fla. -- Two key shopping centers are getting new tenants.
A Big Lots is going into the NSB Regional Shopping Center where Wal-Mart was located and a Dollar General Store in the beachside plaza where the Food Lion was until it closed in February.
"Is this economic development?" Mayor Adam Barringer asked. "Maybe we keep some people from having to shop in Port Orange, but this is a start."
Barringer said he got word of the new stores in a text message earlier this evening from City Manager Pam Brangaccio.
