The end of the presidential election season is near

DEBARY -- The end is near -- finally.  Regardless if you are Republican or Democrat, I will be gladwhen November 6th is over.

Don’t get me wrong, I care about the outcome of the race. I am a die-hard Republican and want Romney to win.

But it will be nice to have a break from the campaign ads, the stories about the phony letters to voters trying to scare them into not voting and all the other things that go on in campaign season. I do not know about you, but the campaign season seems to go on longer now as well.

With more people voting by absentee ballot and with early voting, what we would receive in the mail and see on television seems to be playing out over a much longer period oftime. Regardless of being ready for this campaign cycle to be over, this election is important to America.

Romney has been in Florida a great deal lately with our 29 electoral votes up for grabs, that he needs to win the election. Recent polls show him with a slight lead in Florida.

Also, I think the first debate where Romney crushed Obama was just in time to have an impact on the undecided who are voting by absentee ballot. President Obama was stronger in the last two debates, but in my opinion, could not overcome the deficit left by his disastrous first debate.

I do commend the candidates trying to be sensitive regarding the plights of those in the Northeast affected by the storms by taking a pause in campaigning. This is the time to focus on those devastated and not the politicking. Even as Romney resumed his campaign he was encouraging people to help by donating to the Red Cross.

We have a few hours left  to find out which way our nation will go.

If Obama won a second term and was a “lame duck” president, how much more damage could he do to the American economy? I do not think America would survive four more years going further down the path of socialism. Besides hijacking healthcare, what other industry would be next?

We will have to go through the government for permission for everything. I recently saw a presentation about how to make a video go “viral.” What are the key attributes, etc. The presenter brought up a campaign video from 2008 where Obama was attacking Hillary Clinton with an ad that showed a “1984”movie-type scene and her supporters watched like automatons in this gray world and that Obama would bring break the mold and bring life back.

The problem is Obama wants to turns us into those “automatons” and that we would do everything government says and have nominds of our own. I do not want to be an automaton controlled by the government. People need freedom. Americans need to get their pay checks from an employer and not from the government.

America needs to be a shining star to the rest of the world and we canbe that again by taking the first step by “changing” the President to Mitt Romney.
