DAYTONjavascript:void(0);A BEACH, FLA -- Jason Davis was supposed to be the forgotten candidate. But he finished ahead of high-power attorney Ted Doran in the August primary and then crushed Carl Persis in Tuesday's general election. He sat down with Headline Surfer for an exclusive video interview for the 24/7 Internet newspaper's online newsmaker show, "The Sunday Conversation."

Davis may have lost the battle to Persis for top vote getter in the primary, but on Election Day, the Iraq War veteran won the war by absolutely crushing him by 20,000-plus votes.

County elect graphic / Headline SurferDavis talked about his campaign of "Boots on the Ground," drawing from his military experience as a combat veteran in the Iraq War. He spoke candidly about how being the forgotten candidate by some members of the media motivated him to keep his eyes on the prize.

Davis recalled seeing his image on a mug-shot sized photo on the jump page of the Daytona Beach News-Journal, which hyped the 11th-hour qualifying for Doran, including a big photo of him turning in his paperwork, as well as having a display photo of Persis on the dais of the County Council. Davis also reflected on being purposely left out of a candidate debate sponsored by Tiger Bay and covered by the News-Journal, which never questioned his exclusion.

Davis candidly answered questions about his learning curve in dealing with procedural matters related to running the County Council meetings and his expectations and goals. Please click the videos above to see the entire 30-minute interview.
