DAYTONA BEACH -- Headline Surfer was the first media outlet to report the news of Derrick Henry's swearing in as Daytona Beach mayor and the story was trending in the Google online news directories and search engines.

The 24/7 Internet newspaper out of New Smyrna Beach had more than a hundred people on its website at the very same time during the 9 o'clock hour with the Henry story the most read followed by the Sunday Conversation video interview with County Chair-elect Jason Davis.

The mayor's swearing in was staffed by both Headline Surfer and the Daytona Beach News-Journal, the latter having a beat reporter, columnist and photographer there.

Headline Surfer filed its initial story at 6:45 p.m. from City Hall. The Daytona paper filed its story online at 9:55 p.m. with the same story expected to be prominent in Thursday morning's newspaper.
