OAK HILL -- Lets talk about Space X plan for Southeast Volusia County and the folks in Oak Hill, in particular.

Here are my thoughts: At a recent County Council meeting in DeLand, several individuals expressed displeasure in the fact that the plan will disturb the pristine area of Shiloh.

The environmental crusaders who oppose this need to know the history of this location. Oak Hill had families that had homes and business at Halover Canal for several years.

They were forced to moved when NASA took their land. Therefore, this should not be concidered as pristine, as man has already laid his hand on it.

Mosquito Lagoon in Oak Hill has lots of wildlife / Headline SurferOak Hill's Mosquito Lagoon is home to countless wildlife like these wild turkeys.

We have a more important issue that faces the Class 2 waters of the lagoon in Oak Hill.

And that is Oak Hill's septics, which are the No. 1 polluter of these waters that provide for plant and animal life, fishing, boating and other recreational outlets.

Yet the environmental crusaders are not asking that Volusia County stop this blatant and direct damage to the environment.

Instead, they choose to stop a business that will help the living working class of this area.

We are Volusia County's smallest city and we need jobs for our citizens, too.

Space X would go a long way in providing a major economic boost not only for Oak Hill, but the entire Southeast Volusia region, and the county as a whole, for that matter.
