ORMOND-BY-THE-SEA, Fla. -- Betty and Bud Evans opened the original Alfie’s Restaurant in Jamestown, NY, way back in 1969.

In 1986, they decided to move to Ormond-by-the-Sea and opened up another location, which has now celebrated 29 years in business.

Their son, Greg Evans, and his wife, Dina, own and operate the popular eatery, that remains a throwback to gentler times with great home-cookin' and even better conversation.

The owners have found that giving back to local schools, churches, and charitable organizations has come back to them ten-fold and they are eternally grateful.

Alfie's involvement in civic & community causes is well documented over the years: Breast Cancer Awareness, the American Heart Association, The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, the Ormond-by-the-Sea Lions Club, the local AARP chapter, and several other local fundraisers.

Sept. 24th was the official anniversary date and Alfie's gave away plenty of free fried fish dinners that day. In fact, every 29th person in the door received a complimentary meal. How's that for hospitality?

"Ormond-by-the-Sea is a great community and we have enjoyed meeting, feeding and employing residents as well as tourists for the past 29 years," Alfie's Greg Evans explained.
