'Driving Miss Daisy' opens at Little Theatre of NSB

NEW SMYRNA BEACH -- "Driving Miss Daisy" opens Thursday at the Little Theatre of New Smyrna Beach. This historic and heart-warming play won the Pulitzer Prize for drama in 1987 and best motion picture in 1989.

It is a bittersweet drama about an elderly white southern Jewish lady and her black chauffeur and the unspoken friendship that develops between the unlikely pair over a quarter of a century. Set in Atlanta, the story covers a span of 25 years from 1948 to 1973 during the heart of the civil rights movement.
