Elated GOP health-care bill pulled

EDGEWATER, Fla. -- I am elated for more than one reason that the Republicans pulled their health care bill prior to voting.

The first reason is that finally Trump heard the word "NO" loud and clear and his threats landed on deaf ears. About time someone showed him he is a president and not a king with absolute power. Secondly, I felt their bill and the last minute concessions were a disaster for the people.

Trump's idea during the campaign that all people would have coverage and at considerably lower prices was spitting in the wind and many of us knew that would never happen. In fact, their bill would lose many people coverage totally and cost others way more than they are paying now. Not good for anyone.

Third, it showed the Republicans how the Democrats felt for the past eight years when they were denied everything they tried to do because Republicans blocked their every move. Now that they have this poor taste in their mouths perhaps both parties will stop behaving children and learn to play nice together.

Neither party should just plant their feet against anything presented by the other side and stymie the workings of the government. The Founding Fathers of our country had opposing parties and ideas, but they realized if the country was ever going to be, they had to learn to compromise. And the result was the Constitution, which tried to address their current issues as well as give guidelines for the future as best they could. We need much more of that now.

I can only now hope and pray that he calms down, gets off his Twitter and keeps his butt in the White House where he belongs instead of flying to Florida every weekend.

Yeah, I am probably deluding myself, but let me be for just a little while, ok? I have no doubt he will snap me back to reality very soon.
