NSB cops: Boy, 15, arrested on charges of attacking his mother with a razor blade

NEW SMYRNA BEACH -- A 15-year-old Oak Hill teen has been arrested on charges of aggravated battery after cutting his mother with a razor blade, which required her to receive several stitches, police said.

The 38-year-old mother, was treated after the Sunday night incident at Bert Fish Medical Center for cuts to her back and a finger.

The mother was attempting to bring her son to a relative's home in New Smyrna Beach because he was not following house arrest orders for a previous incident when the two had an argument in her car after he refused to get out and she was cut -- twice on the back and once to one of her fingers with a 3-inch blade, which was found in the vehicle, according to the police report.

The child was apprehended by police a short time after running from his mother's car and booked into the Volusia Regional Juvenile Detention Center in Daytona Beach.
