NSB cops respond to armed confrontation at Beall's Outlet on State Road 44

NEW SMYRNA BEACH -- Officers responded to Beall's Outlet in the NSB Regional Shopping Center, 1914 State Road 44, after the loss prevention officer reported an armed robbery and an aggravated battery at 3:41 p.m. that resulted in the store employee having his hand cut.

The loss prevention officer tried to stop a man and a woman outside of the business, after observing the woman stealing clothing. She was described as well dressed in a purple outfit, medium height and about 30 years of age. Her accomplice was described as tall with a muscular build, about 40-42 years of age. He was wearing a T-shirt and blue jeans.

"While making contact, the black female began to struggle with the LP officer," police Sgt. Eugene Griffith said in his 6 p.m. report. "The black female produced a utility knife during the struggle, cutting the LP officer on the hand. The LP officer disengaged and both suspects fled the area in an older model gold Cadillac, with no tag attached the vehicle. A local BOLO was issued for the suspects and vehicle."
