NSB library to display art collections

NEW SMYRNA BEACH -- Art is in the air at the New Smyrna Beach Regional Library, which will display three art collections this spring.

Throughout March, the library will feature the photographs of Bud Moyer, a New Smyrna Beach resident who has received more than 350 state and national awards. Moyer owned a photo studio in Traverse City, Mich., for 35 years and photographed families, high school seniors and visiting celebrities including Veronica Lake, Charles Ruggles, Mary Pickford and Orson Bean.

Denise Morrissette will display her oil paintings in April. The New Smyrna Beach artist and scuba diver specializes in landscapes, seascapes and underwater scenes reminiscent of nature she has experienced in the United States, Belize, Costa Rica, Mexico, Bahamas, Cayman Islands, and the islands of Micronesia.

In May, the library will feature “Picturing America,” a collection of high-quality reproductions of selected art masterpieces. The collection was awarded to Volusia County as part of a grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities in collaboration with the American Library Association.

Throughout the year, the library displays a revolving collection from artists affiliated with New Smyrna Beach’s Artists’ Workshop. This ever-changing display is featured prominently in the lobby.

The New Smyrna Beach Regional Library is open seven days a week at 1001 S. Dixie Freeway. For more information, please call (386) 424-2910.
