NEW SMYRNA BEACH -- Congresswoman Susanne Kosmas announced Friday that Volusia County was receiving $1.15 million of a $135 million federal aid package for Florida law enforcement and criminal justice entities.

The funding is part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, said Kosmas, in her first term representing the 42nd district that includes parts of Volusia, Seminole, Brevard and Orange counties.

"Creating and saving jobs is one of the most important aspects of the tax relief and recovery package and combining this critical need with an opportunity to provide safer neighborhoods has resulted in a win-win for Florida," said Kosmas, the New Smyrna Beach Democrat, in a prepared statement.

The funding locally is as follows: New Smyrna Beach, $51,011; Edgewater, $27,056; Volusia County, $387,518; Daytona Beach, $428,102; Daytona Beach Shores, $14,092; DeLand, $78,631; Holly Hill, $48,502; Orange City, $37,343; Ormond Beach, $44,811; Port Orange, $26,633, and South Daytona, $16,346.
