Rolex 24 at Daytona a tight race with 3 hours left (see video of tire flying off car)

DAYTONA BEACH -- In the waning three hoyurs of the 47th Rolex 24 At Daytona, four teams are battling right down to the wire in America's premier sports car race. Buddy Rice leading in the No. 58 Brumos Racing Porsche RIley, is being chased by the No. 01 TELMEX/Target Chip Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates driver Scott Pruett, Pedro Lamy in the No. 10 SunTrust Racing Ford Dallara, and Terry Borcheller in the No. 59 Brumos Racing Porsche Riley, according to a Rolex press release race recap.

The Brumos team is looking for its first victory in the Grand-Am Rolex Sports Car Series presented by Crown Royal Cask No. 16 since 2003. David Donohue, driver of the No. 58 entry, could win on the 40th anniversary of his father's victory in the 1969 classic, when Mark Donohue drove for Penske Racing. Hurley Haywood, in the team's No. 59, is seeking his sixth overall victory in the event.

The Ganassi team is also seeking to make history, looking for its fourth straight triumph in the event. Scott Pruett is a three-time overall and eight-time class champion in the Rolex 24, and is seeking his third straight overall victory with Juan Pablo Montoya. Memo Rojas, who shared the 2008 Daytona Prototype crown with Pruett, is looking to make it two in a row. Wayne Taylor is a two-time overall winner in the event, including 2005 when he shared the victory with current co-driver Max Angelelli.

In GT, the race is coming down to a battle between two TRG Porsches. Emmanuel Collard, who shared in the 2005 overall triumph with Taylor and Angelelli, is driving the No. 66, followed by Patrick Long in the No. 66. The race is scheduled to take the checkered flag at 3:32 p.m., with SPEED coverage continuing until 4 p.m. ET.
