Supervisor of Elections: Recount for South Daytona Mayor's Race

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- A recount washas been ordered in the South Daytona Mayor’s race, beginning at 9 am on Friday.

The recount will take place at the Department of Elections, Historic Courthouse, 125 W. New York Avenue in Deland.

The preliminary results indicate that of the 2,599 total votes cast; William "Bill" Hall received 1,302 votes or 50.10 percent and George F. Locke III received 1,297 votes or 49.90 percent.

"If the machine recount indicates that a manual recount is required, the manual recount will begin immediately following the machine recount," Supervisor of Elections Lisa Lewis told Headline Surfer adding the Canvassing Board orderted the recount Tuesday night when the votes were tallied showing Hall with a slight lead.
