Local reax to presidential primaries emphasized

We are four days shy of one month since our April 11 launch and with 12,000 hits, NSBNEWS.net is becoming a hit. Seemingly overnight the Web site seems to take on a life of its own. Well, that is literally what is happening with still more added features. New to the list is the atomic clock in the scrolling text; our NSB News Webcast; Everyday People, Word on the Street and an Inspiring Thought. Many of these elements are added during the overnight hours because of the intense labor and tedious detail that goes into the process. Some have asked why we have the advertising slots, but no ads. That's because it's important first to build a respectable online community newspaper site. Because this is a one person operation, funding is very limited. We believe that NSB News will sell itself once we have all of the editorial components in place. Our advertising rates are by far the cheapest of any media source serving Southeast Volusia and with the number of readers increasing each day, this site, no doubt, will be a great resource for Southeast Volusia merchants and businesses in Volusia County as a whole. There is so much work that goes into starting something as ambitious as this, but hard work, dedication and a commitment to excellence are the building blocks to success. Southeast Volusia residents and merchants have a number of local media choices: The Daytona Beach News-Journal with a locally-zoned section three days a week, the weekly Observer and the weekly South Daytona-based Hometown News with main offices in Fort Pierce. And there is NSB News, through NSBNEWS.net, which operates around the clock, seven days a week. We were the only media outlet to provide weekend coverage of Riverfest -- not only with two days of story coverage, but with our Photo Gallery page and our Newsmaker Q&A video segment. We were the only outlet on Flagler Avenue for our coverage of Cinco de Mayo. And Tuesday night, we were the only media outlet to bring you local reaction to the Democratic presidential contests with our "Word on the Street segment, the guest column from Catherine Forester and our NSB News Webcast analysis. And of course, unlike the morning paper where you get limited wire coverage of the elections, our Google wire alerts on the Home page updates breaking stories continuously. We hope that you are enjoying NSBNEWS.net. Please let all of your family and friends know and sign up for our newsletter on the Home page. Rember, we are the only media outlet committed to giving you Southeast Volusia news around the clock seven days a week. You don't have to pay 50 cents each day or $1.50 on Sunday and wonder if there's really any local news without having to thumb through the entire paper. Any day now, the blogs for myself and Peter Mallory should be updated to once again accommodate reader feedback. Because of a couple of jerks, we had to re-program our database for reader comments. And later today, the technical glitches that delayed The Big Story should be fixed. In the meantime, feel free to e-mail me at henryfrederick@nsbnews.net.
