DAYTONA BEACH -- Why my military service and earning of the Bronze Star for Valor became part of the official meeting record: It came to my attention, that an individual, or certain individuals, were questioning my service to our country.
None had the intestinal fortitude to ask me, in person for documents, but chose to make false statements and accusations. Cowards have different ways of doing things and pursuing their personal agendas.

For Headline Surfer / Any veteran who has served this country would be rightfully angry, disgusted, and feel disrespected by any similar statements and accusations such as made against me.
My military service documents, including the Bronze Star for Valor earned, appeared on my website during my campaign for Volusia County chair, and now they are part of the official record of the Volusia County Council meeting of Oct. 24, 2013. My office is always open to anyone for discussion on this matter, or any matter concerning Volusia County government.

Editor's Note: Denys critical of colleague Davis
Shortly after Jason Davis won his race for Volusia County chair in the 2012 general elections, fellow Republican Deb Denys, of New Smyrna Beach, who also won her dist. 3 non-partisan seat representing Southeast Volusia, kept insisting in the ensuing months that Headline Surfer check Davis' military record, though she wasn't more specific. After she held a fundraiser in September at the Hampton Inn for her 2014 re-election, Headline Surfer® received an anonymous tip that Davis' military record had been the butt of jokes at that fundraiser. Denys has not returned the 24/7 internet newspaper's calls, emails or text messages since August and is the only member of the 7-member County County Council to "unfriend" Headline Surfer's publisher on Facebook.
