NEW SMYRNA BEACH -- A man was transported to Bert Fish Medical Center with a gunshot wound to an ankle after he was robbed by another man in the 300 block of Palm Street Saturday night, New Smyrna Beach police said.

Here is a synopsis of what occurred in the 9:16 p.m. incident: The victim, 39-year-old Jimmie Lee Clark, Jr., said he was robbed by a fellow African-American man armed with a small-caliber handgun.

NEW SMYRNA BEACH -- Local residents no longer need to travel several miles to renew a Florida driver license. For the convenience of rNew Smyrna Beach residents, the state will park a mobile office in the city twice in August.

The Florida Licensing on Wheels mobile will be open from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 13, at the Alonzo ‘Babe’ James Center, 201 N. Myrtle Ave., and Tuesday, Aug. 20, at the corner of Julia Street and Sams Avenue next to City Hall.

Breaking News: I teen dead; 2 others critical in Oak Hill crash

Fatal crash locator Oak Hull, FL / Headline SurferOAK HILL -- One teenager was killed and two others critically injured Wednesday night at the intersection of Maytown and Beacon light roads just outside the Oak Hill city limits, a Volusia County dispatcher confirmed just before 4 this morning.

There are few details on the 8:57 p.m. accident, but one thing is certain: One life was lost and the lives of two other young people hang in the balance.

"Oh my God, I know where this is at," Oak Hill Mayor Douglas Gibson told Headline Surfer after being awakened in a 4 a.m. call by the 24/7 internet newspaper and told of the location and limited details. "Our hearts go out to the families. These kids are dying way too young."

Claudette McFadden, associate provost in the office of the president of Bethune-Cookman University, has been named moderator of the 6:30 p.m. Trayvon Martin Forum, according to the Daytona Beach News-Journal. Henry Frederick, publisher of Headline Surfer, the 24/7 internet newspaper, was initially named moderator in a press release issued Tuesday night by the Rev. L. Ronald Durham, but informed Wednesday night by phone he was no longer needed.

DAYTONA BEACH -- At 11:18 p.m. Tuesday, the Rev. L. Ronald Durham sent out a press release to local media outlets announcing members of the panel to serve on the Trayvon Martin Community forum announced for 6:30 tonight would include Mayor Derrick Henry, Chief of Police Michael Chitwood, NAACP President Cynthia Slater, NAACP member Thaddeus Collins, Daytona Times Writer James Harper and Durham himself, president of Daytona Beach Black Clergy Alliance.
