Funeral service for Leon Leroy Reed, age 92, of New Smyrna Beach, who passed away peacefully at Hospice Care Center, Edgewater, on June 3, will be 7:00 p.m. Friday(today) June 4, at Settle-Wilder Funeral Home, New Smyrna Beach. The Reverend Laura Walters Baskett will officiate the service. Friends may call from 6:00 p.m. until service time at the funeral home.

Lewis A. "Lewie" Preyer passed away Wednesday, June 2, 2010 at Bert Fish Medical Center, New Smyrna Beach, surrounded by family and friends.
June 5, 1929 - May 30, 2010
Doris Rose Bohn, age 80, of Edgewater, died peacefully in her home on May 30, 2010.
DELTONA -- The Volusia County Sheriff's Office is on the scene of a shooting in Deltona this morning that clamed the lives of three adults. Deputies were dispatched to 2507 Otis Ave. after a neighbor called 911 at 6:34 a.m. to report hearing the sound of gunfire.
The shooting occurred outside of the home. A man and woman were pronounced dead at the scene. Another man at the scene sustained a gunshot wound and was alive when deputies arrived. The wounded man, who is believed to be the shooter, was transported by EVAC ambulance to Florida Hospital Fish Memorial in Orange City, where he was pronounced dead.
Every day people are changing their lifestyle habits. They might start flossing, eating healthier, or using a reusable water bottle. But one habit tends to get overlooked. This habit is texting or talking on the phone while driving.

June 1 marked the beginning of Florida’s annual hurricane season, which lasts through November. This year, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA)
(http://email.capitolhillnewsonline.com) has projected that the Atlantic will experience an “active-to-extremely-active” season, with between 14 and 23 named tropical systems, including eight to 14
hurricanes with the possibility of three to seven of those developing into major hurricanes.

Bryan Weaver is valedictorian of the 2010 Class of New Smyrna Beach High School. In his speech to his fellow graduates, Weaver urged them to "please keep in mind all of the people who helped you along the way."
He also encouraged his classmates to try to make a difference in someone's life, explaining, "in the same way those people made a difference in yours."
