PALM COAST -- A Groveland truck driver was killed early Tuesday on Interstate 95 when another truck pulled out in front of him, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Julio A. Rentas, 38, was southbound on I-95 near Old Kings Road at 4 a.m., when a truck driven by Betty Tucke, 58, of Richmond., Va., exited the shoulder and into his path, troopers said.

Tucker, hauling sweet potatoes, was not hurt, the FHP said. the victim, pronouned dead on the scene was transporting make-up.

No charges were filed, but an investigation is ongoing, the highway patrol said.

NEW SMYRNA BEACH -- Early Tuesday surfers discovered the washed up carcass of an adult-spotted dolphin just south of the South Jetty, the fourth such dead dolphin in the past 10 days in the vicinity.

Marine biologists are puzzled as to why the dolphins met their fate, though they may have one significant clue.

NEW SMYRNA BEACH -- A woman was robbed at gunpoint Tuesday morning after ordering her into her car in the parking lot at Walmart on State Road 44 and having an accomplice follow them to the 1900 block of Jungle Road where she was robbed of personal belongings, including her cell phone, New Smyrna Beach police said.

NEW SMYRNA BEACH -- Gusting winds were blamed for a downed tree that damaged a power line and left the NSB Regional Shopping Center in the dark for about an hour about mid-day Tuesday, April 7, retailers and the Utilities Commission said.

NEW SMYRNA BEACH -- Raymond B. Hallstrom, better known as "Ray" among his colleagues and friends in the Kiwanis Club of Southeast Volusia, will be remembered for his "good works" as the longtime secretary of the club, having died on June 30, at the Hospice Care Center in Edgewater. He was 64.
