Motorist killed, two deputies shot and 1-year-old abandoned in field after drug party

 NEW SMYRNA BEACH -- Volusia County's Thanksgiving holiday weekend has been anything but celebratory so far with a motorist killed on I-95 earlier tonight, two deputies shot in Deltona responding to a domestic violence call and a 1-year-old girl left abandoned in a field after a drug party by her mother's boyfriend in spite.

This week I was asked to deliver the Weekly Republican Address. On behalf of the members of the House Republican Caucus, I want to wish you a very Happy Thanksgiving!

DELTONA -- We have a tradition at our Thanksgiving table. As we enjoy dinner we go around the table and everyone says what they are thankful for. Some of the comments are thoughtful, some funny and sometimes the young ones struggle with the concept of expressing what they are thankful for.

NEW SMYRNA BEACH -- This week marks an incredibly important holiday for the heart and soul of our nation. In a time when we face economic uncertainty, military conflicts abroad, political infighting, and protestors in the street fighting for the cause du jour, it can be easy for folks to get bogged down in their daily lives.

It is important, however, to take some time to realize how thankful we, as Americans, truly are. Most of us live a quality of life that is beyond the wildest dreams of the rest of the world.

DAYTONA BEACH -- The 2012 Best Colleges guidebook published by U.S. News & World Report has ranked Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University’s (ERAU) undergraduate aerospace engineering program tops in the nation for the 12th year in a row.

The guidebook, which hit newsstands in September, ranks 1,400 accredited four-year schools nationwide.

Courtesy photo / Thomas Fey, wanted on two counts of attempted murder in the Sunday stabbings of his parents in the Deltona home they shared, has been apprehended.

DELTONA -- Thomas Fey, the 28-year-old Deltona man wanted on a warrant accusing him of stabbing his parents over the weekend, was apprehended tonight in Hernando County after a chase through four counties, A Volusia County Sheriff's spokesman confirmed.

Orange, Lake, Sumter and Hernando Counties by deputies after he reports earlier in the day had him seen in several Central Florida communities.

"The suspect was captured this evening and has been taken into custody in Hernando County," Gary Davidson, spokesman for Volusia County Sheriff Ben Johnson, told NSBNews.net.

"Thomas Fey's vehicle was first spotted in Orange County by an Oakland Police Officer. Fey sped from the scene, west into Lake County, where Lake County Sheriff's deputies joined in the pursuit.
