For five years I attended Indian River Elementary School in Edgewater. The memories are still vivid of all the good and challenging times. I remember being unsure but excited on the first day of kindergarten and I remember holding my breath the same year on Sept.11th.
OAK HILL -- Division of Forestry officials are pleased on this Sunny Sunday afternoon that they finally have the massive Iron Horse wildfire straddling the Volusia and Brevard County borders contained, but far from extinguished or even under control.
OAK HILL -- By 5:30 p.m. Saturday, the nearly 17,000-acre wildfire straddling the Volusia and Brevard county lines had been 95 percent contained, officials said.

DAYTONA BEACH -- A body was found Friday night in a wooded area of the 200 block of Bayless Avenue, police said.
DELAND -- Bike Week 2011 hadn't yet started and already a motorcyclist was killed Thursday night when his Harley Davidson was struck by an 18-year-old motorist in a four-door Mercury that tried crossing over several lanes on Woodland Boulevard, the Florida Highway Patrol said.
DAYTONA BEACH -- Bike Week brings heavy traffic and Votran riders should expect some delays, interruptions and possible route deviations. Schedule delays will begin Thursday, March 10, and will continue to occur through that Sunday.

OAK HILL -- Even though the so-called Iron Hore wildfire has quadrupled from 4,000 acres to 16,000-plus acres, officials say the worst of it is behind us with most of the damage south of Oak Hill in neighboring northern Brevard County.
DAYTONA BEACH SHORES, Fla. -- It is undeniably true, as several of our Republican leaders have said, that we do not have a revenue problem, we have a spending problem. In other words, government spending must be drastically reduced. Yet the Obama Administration continues to spend as if there were no end of money, driving our economy toward bankruptcy and the dollar toward collapse.
