NEW SMYRNA BEACH -- Headline Surfer's blog on a media seating arrangement that could potentially bar the Internet newspaper from a seat in the Sanford courtroom for George Zimmerman's Friday morning bond hearing, was picked up by Google's News Directory within minutes and placed fifth among the search engine's top 10 stories worldwide.
Headline Surfer Publisher/Editor Henry Frederick challenged the fairness of the assigned seating that has multitudes of national news correspondents and even a producer for CNN's Piers Morgan guaranteed a seat for the scheduled 9 am Friday bond hearing.
CNN's "In Session" has the pool for the live video feed and the Orlando Sentinel has the pool for still photography.
Headline Surfer has been an active participant in the Trayvon Martin homicide, including an in-person video interview with the teen's parents following a rally in Miami protesting the Sanford PD's handling of the case from the start. The New Smyrna Beach-based Internet newspaper also covered the initial court presentment of Zimmerman and a college student march from Daytona to the Sanford Courthouse.
The Internet newspaper was launched April 7, 2008, initially as NSBNews.net before securing the trade-marked umbrella name Headline Surfer. It was the first 24/7 Internet newspaper in the Sunshine State.
