89. NSB Fire Chief Dave McAllister among community award winners by Volusia League of Cities

 

NSB Fire Chief Dave McCallisterNEW SMYRNA BEACH -- Fire Chief Dave McCallister was honored by the Volusia League of Cities' Distinguished Service Award for 2012.

This awards were presented to outstanding individuals who have made their community, and Volusia County as a whole, a better place to live. The recipients were honored at a Volusia League of Cities banquet May 24, at the Smyrna Yacht Club in New Smyrna Beach.

Blaine O'Neal Award of Excellence, the top overall award, went to Port Orange City Manager Kenneth Parker.

President's Awards -- U.S. Rep. John Mica and then-State Rep. Fred Costello;
Elected Official of the Year -- Mayor Pro Tem Leigh Matusick, City of DeLand;
Manager of the Year -- Jeaneen Clauss, Town of Ponce Inlet;
Employee of the Year for Parks and Rec. -- Roni Jackson, City of Daytona Beach Shores;
Employee of the Year for Public Safety: McCallister and Kenneth Jones, City of Orange City, city detective;
Employee of the Year for Public Works -- Glenn Whitcomb, City of Deltona and Michael Ulrich, City of Port Orange;
Employee of the Year for Admin. and Planning -- Ami Pierce - Town of Ponce Inlet;
Employee of the Year for Other -- Loretta Moisio, City of Ormond Beach;
Citizen of the Year for Community Sports -- Harry Wendelstedt, City of Ormond Beach (Honorarium);
Citizens of the Year for Community Events -- Susie Macon, City of DeLand, and Dave and Sam Buckman, City of South Daytona;
Citizens of the Year for Public Safety -- Jerry Doyle, City of DeLand and Sally Panella, City of Ormond Beach;
Citizen of the Year for Cultural Enrichment -- Judy Thompson – City of DeLand;
Citizen of the Year for Other -- Robert McIntosh, City of Edgewater.
