DAYTONA BEACH -- Scott Dixon No. 02 Target/Telcel Ford EcoBoost/Riley has dominated the second hour of the Rolex 24 at Daytona International Speedway with Joao Barbosa briefly taking the point in the No. 5 Action Express Racing Corvette DP following’s Dixon’s routine pit stop.

Dixon’s Chip Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates’ teammate Scott Pruett’s pit stop was anything but routine, though. Pruett brushed a crewman while attempting to exit and came to a stop; that resulted in Pruett given a 60-second stop-and-hold penalty that put the defending winning No. 01 Telcel/Target Ford ExoBoost Ford/Riley in 14th position overall.

At the two-hour mark, Pruett was 11th, two laps down. Both Extreme Speed Motorsports Tequila Patrón HDP ARX-03bs spun at the entrance to the chicane. Ed Brown went off and backed into a tire wall, resulting in rear-end bodywork damage and an extended visit to the garage.

Two laps later, teammate Scott Sharp’s No. 01 entry tangled with the Pickett Racing Nissan/ORECA, spinning and continuing. However, Sharp went to the garage just before the two hour mark.

Bruno Junqueira, the early leader in PC, went to the garage early in the second hour driving the No. 09 RSR Racing ORECA FLM09.

With Dixon holding the overall lead at the two-hour mark, other class leaders were: GTLM, Nick Tandy, No. Porsche North America Porsche 911 RSR; PC, Alex Tagliani, No. 08 RSR Racing ORECA FLM09; GTD, Kuba Giermaziak, No. NGT Motorsports MOMO Porsche 911 GT America.
