ORANGE CITY, Fla. -- There was only one contested race in Orange City in the November elections and even it wasn't much of a battle as incumbent O. William "Bill" Crippen romped over Vernon Stafford to retain his at-large seat with nearly 67 percent of the votes cast.
Election night totals showed Crippen with 1,890 votes or 66.93 percent to Stafford's 934 or 33.07 percent of the total.

Incumbents in two other seats, Anthony Pupello in district 4 and Gary Blair in district 5 had no opposition and so were automatically re-elected to new four year terms following the November general election with qualifying having closed at noon Friday, June 20, in the small Southwest Volusia city.
Crippn's big election win comes in at No. 87 in the HeadlinSurfer.com countdown of the top 100 local stories of 2014.

"From childhood into adulthood, Bill has always been fascinated with the unique history of West Volusia County and often portrays many colorful figures in performances at the Annual Cemetery Walk for the West Volusia Historical Society. His interests also include archaeology, reading, restoring furniture and collecting old wood working tools.
