DELAND -- County Chair Frank Bruno told 50 chamber executives and other business leaders at a luncheon today the naysayers will always be critical of issues like the Ocean Center and its reliance on taxpayer funding, but overall he's pleased with the way things are going.

NEW SMYRNA BEACH -- The Bethune-Cookman Wildcats of Daytona Beach returned to the sixth day of practice Tuesday, taking the field again at New Smyrna Beach Sports Complex in full pads during the late afternoon session, with solid results beginning to show.

Florida Highway Patrol: Stretch of Old Mission Road in New Smyrna Beach closed following accident fatality

NEW SMYRNA BEACH -- Avoid driving on Old Mission Road if you can this morning, south of State Road 44 and east of Interstate 95, as that stretch of roadway is closed by the Florida Highway Patrol following a 4:42 a.m. fatality.
