ORLANDO -- The world's No. 1 ranked golfer won't defend his championship when play begins Thursday in Orlando’s Arnold Palmer Invitational at Bay Hill. That's because Tiger Woods withdrew Tuesday citing continued back spasms. 

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- In the digital age, "new media" outlets like Headline Surfer® often get lost in the shuffle in the complicated licensing agreements that large sports sanctioning bodies like NASCAR, Major League Baseball and the National Football League and others have with the broadcast outlets like FOX Sports, ESPN, and then the perceived pecking order of established print and local TV media outlets.

ORLANDO -- The Orlando Magic have little hope of winning more than a third of the games on their 82-game schedule, if the opening night game loss on the road Tuesday night against the Indiana Pacers, 97-87, is any indication.

Jennifer Hide claims runner-up finish in season-opener

PHOENIX, Md. – Bethune-Cookman junior women’s golfer Jennifer Hide shot a 4-over 148 in collecting a runner-up finish for the Daytona campus at the Tignanelli Towson Invitational on Monday, hosted by Towson University at the Towson Golf & Country Club in Phoenix, Md.

As a team, Bethune-Cookman finished third in the field with scores of 314 and 311 for the tournament. The total for Bethune-Cookman equaled +49, 625 throughout the par-72 course (6,139 yards).

B-CU Director of Golf Loritz “Scooter” Clark was happy with the results from the season-opening tournament, especially considering B-CU was the only team fielding just four individuals into the scoring.

DELAND --  A pair of Stetson baseball players were named to the 2013 Louisville Slugger Freshman All-America team, which is selected annually by Collegiate Baseball newspaper.

DELAND -- The Stetson Hatters used a four-run rally in the eighth inning on Saturday at Melching Field to rally for a 6-4 victory over Mercer, snapping a five-game losing skid with their first conference win of the year.

DELAND – A huge start, a clutch finish, and several solid innings inbetween proved to be a winning formula for the Stetson softball team Saturday as the Hatters defeated Florida A&M 11-0 and Bethune-Cookman 7-3 to sweep the Hatter Classic at Patricia Wilson Field.
