Call for chefs and artists for upcoming Culinary Art Walk on Flagler Avenue
NEW SMYRNA BEACH -- The Gallery Group of Flagler Avenue is seeking professional chefs and artists in any medium to participate in the “Culinary Arts” Art Walk” from
10 a.m.-5 p.m., March 28 in New Smyrna Beach.
Chefs are invited to present culinary demonstrations, and artists are invited to showcase culinary related art works. It will be a very special occasion.

NSB city attorney to meet with attorney for Angler's Club to discuss legality of waterfront lease

New Smyrna Beach City Attorney Frank Gummey told the City Commission it is his opinion that the city's 99-year lease with the Angler's Club is legally binding, regardless of whether it once had discriminatory membership policies and is not paying current fair-market value to use the municipal waterfront property.
Learn about the 'power of positive' at the Edgewater library
EDGEWAER -- Life coach Sheri Kennington will present a two-part seminar on positive change at the Edgewater Public Library. She will discuss “The power of positive: Tools and insights for effective change” at 3 p.m. Saturday, March 7; followed by “Bringing balance, respect and positive change to ourselves and others” at 3 p.m. Saturday, March 14.
The free seminar is part of the library’s Florida Living Series, an adult program that encourages better living.
Bike Week 2009: Third fatality reported near Oak Hill (story updates victim ID)
OAK HILL -- A dead biker was found just before 6 a.m. in a wooded area just south of the Oak Hill city limits, according to the authorities.
A search was under way three hours earlier after Ronald Courtney, 47, of New Smyrna Beach reportedly called a friend on his cell phone to report he had crashed and suffered a broken leg.
His motorcycle was found in 6 inches of water in a ditch, which eventually led searchers to his body in woods.
NSB library to display art collections
NEW SMYRNA BEACH -- Art is in the air at the New Smyrna Beach Regional Library, which will display three art collections this spring.
Throughout March, the library will feature the photographs of Bud Moyer, a New Smyrna Beach resident who has received more than 350 state and national awards. Moyer owned a photo studio in Traverse City, Mich., for 35 years and photographed families, high school seniors and visiting celebrities including Veronica Lake, Charles Ruggles, Mary Pickford and Orson Bean.

I watched with interest the (NSBNEWS.net) video of the New Smyrna Beach City Commission meeting where in essence the elected officials kicked the city manager (John Hagood) to the curb. After nearly 30 years of service to the city, his efforts were rewarded with "here’s your hat there’s the door."
